LED Lighting Trends Shaping Commercial Projects in 2026
Tunable white, integrated controls, higher efficacy and slimmer form factors — what contractors should know.
The LED market keeps moving. These are the trends we see most on commercial jobs.
1. Selectable CCT and wattage
Field-selectable switches let one SKU cover 3000K, 4000K and 5000K. Fewer SKUs on the truck, fewer returns.
2. Controls-ready fixtures
0-10V dimming is now standard on most commercial fixtures, and many accept occupancy and daylight sensors. Energy codes increasingly expect controls in new construction and major renovations.
3. Higher efficacy
Lumens per watt keep climbing. When comparing fixtures, look at delivered lumens and efficacy rather than wattage alone.
4. Slim, retrofit-friendly form factors
Wafer-thin downlights and backlit panels install with minimal ceiling work — ideal for occupied buildings.
5. Better colour quality
CRI 90+ is becoming common for retail, hospitality and healthcare where colour rendering matters.
